Birgit-Jürgenssen-Award 2023
The 20th award ceremony of the Birgit Jürgenssen Prize - this time to Hanna Kučera - will take place on April 19, 2023 at 6 pm in the Aula of the Academy of Fine Arts Vienna at Schillerplatz. On the occasion of the anniversary, a publication will be published in cooperation with the BMKÖS, presenting the award winners of the years 2014 to 2023, which will also be presented on this evening.
The artist Hanna Kučera receives the Birgit-Jürgenssen-Prize endowed with 5,000 euros. Kučera convinced the jury of the Birgit-Jürgenssen-Prize 2023 with the fact that she is able to bring sculpture and performance into an exceedingly coherent context and virtuously mediates between the media of drawing, sculpture, performative techniques and scenography. At the same time, she puts herself as an artist at disposal and - this was appreciated as a parallel to the œuvre of Birgit Jürgenssen in addition to the multimedia and interdisciplinarity - brings her own position in connection with social debate.
