BMKOES | Film art scholarship abroad 2025
The call of the Federal Ministry for Arts, Culture, Civil Service and Sport is aimed at artists already working professionally in the field of film and whose work is characterized by an experimental orientation and an innovative character.
The grants are intended to make it possible to prepare film art projects in the research and conception phase in an international context, to establish and deepen the necessary networks and to initiate and/or continue international collaborations. Travel and accommodation are organized independently by the artists.
Formal criteria
Eligible to apply are artists who are Austrian citizens or have their main residence in Austria and thus actively contribute to artistic creation in Austria. The first filmic works must have already been realized independently of an educational institution.
- It is not possible for students to apply. All persons enrolled (at the time of application) at a university/university of applied sciences (regardless of the field of study) are excluded from applying (exceptions: PhD/doctoral studies and other postgraduate studies).
- Artists who have been awarded another grant from the Arts and Culture Section of the Federal Ministry of Arts, Culture, Civil Service and Sport for the current year are not eligible to apply.
The five scholarships to be awarded are endowed with 1,500 euros per month each (plus a lump sum to cover accommodation and travel costs) and can be awarded for 1 to a maximum of 3 months.
