Pauline Debrichy, *1989 in Charleroi/Belgium, lives and works in Vienna. After several years at the Faculty of Architecture at the University of Antwerp, she turned to sculpture and studied first at the Academy of Fine Arts in Antwerp and later with Julian Göthe at the Academy of Fine Arts Vienna, where she graduated in 2019. Her diploma project was awarded the Academy's Recognition Prize.
Fascinated by the urban environment, Debrichy situates her work at the intersection of private and public spheres. Through sculptures, photographs and site-specific installations, she questions the concept of space, its limits, and its influence on our perception and emotions. She particularly focuses on topics such as urban development and the notion of private and public space.
In addition to an honorable mention at the Mark Marken sculpture prize, Debrichy has been nominated for various Belgian art awards, including the Hainaut Art prize, the Input/Output Award the Wallonian Art Commission Prize, and the Young Artist Award from the Wallonia- Brussels Parliament. In 2024, she received the BMKÖS Start scholarship, along with project grants from BMKÖS and the city of Salzburg.
Her network is expanded through international residencies such as the Conseil des Arts et des Lettres du Québec, Kunstraum St. Virgil in Salzburg, and most recently, the Académie des Beaux Arts x the Cité Internationale des Arts Paris. Her work has been exhibited at venues including Kunstraum St.Virgil (Salzburg), Cité Internationale des Arts (Paris), Galerie Roger Katwijk (Amsterdam), De Poortersloge (Bruges), Centre Bang (Chicoutimi, Québec), Parallel Vienna (Vienna), BPS22 (Charleroi), Pferd (Vienna), Fluide (Thuin), LAMES (St. Pölten), Hebebühne (Wuppertal), Kvaka (Belgrade), Koninklijke Academie voor Schone Kunsten (Antwerp).
