Artistic-scientific staff
The Academy of Fine Arts Vienna has established a network of partner universities within the framework of the Erasmus+ programme, which corresponds to our own standards in terms of their structure, range of subjects, and academic quality. In addition to student exchanges, we also maintain a regular exchange of academic and administrative staff with these partner universities.
Staff members have the following opportunities for professional development, international networking, discussing research ideas with colleagues, and further education:
- Teacher mobility-STA
- Training mobilities-STT
- Combined stays (teaching and training)
Programme countries: 27 EU member states, Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway, Northern Macedonia, Turkey
Multiple stays in the same academic year are possible!
The funded academy staff members receive:
- financial support for their stay abroad
- support in the preparation and implementation of the stay abroad (cultural and organisational)
- if applicable, special subsidies for funded staff members with disabilities.

Teaching Staff Mobility - STA
For the artistic-scientific staff of the Academy, there is the possibility of a teaching stay of several days at a European higher education institution in an Erasmus+ programme country.
Selection criteria
- The staff member has a valid employment contract with the Academy of Fine Arts Vienna.
- Erasmus+ contract between the Academy of Fine Arts and the partner university
- duration of stay: at least 2 days, in exceptional cases up to 2 months
- teaching obligation: at least 8 hours. For stays of 8 days or more, the number of minimum hours increases (8 days: 9 hours, 9 days: 11 hours, 10 days: 12 hours)
Funding
At the end of the mobility, the following costs will be reimbursed:
- travel costs
- accommodation costs
- daily allowance (according to the Ordinance of the Federal Government on the Determination of Travel Allowances for Service Abroad)
Procedure
Application:
- Contact the International Office (staff_outgoing@akbild.ac.at) and discussion of the project. The International Office will be happy to assist you in contacting the partner university.

- completion of a Mobility Agreement. This agreement requires the approval of the host institution and the head of the International Office.
- completion of the Travel application form. The travel application requires the approval of the head of the organisational unit as well as the head of the International Office.
- The International Office issues the Grant Agreement between the Academy and the teachers.
AFTER the mobility, the following final formalities have to be completed:
- handing over the Letter of Confirmation for Teaching Assignment to the International Office
- submission of the Business trip accounting with all original invoices and receipts to the International Office
- online reporting (Erasmus Survey), the link will be sent automatically by the European Commission by e-mail
Training Staff Mobility- STT
For the artistic-scientific staff of the Academy, there is the possibility of a Staff Training Mobility of several days for further education and training at universities and institutions, institutes and companies in a European Erasmus programme country. For example, pedagogical skills can be trained, competences in curriculum design or specific knowledge that is important for the current job and professional development can be acquired. In any case, international networking and exchange of experience with colleagues abroad is encouraged. The host institution can be a higher education institution or any other organisation in the host country (e.g. educational institute, arts, and cultural institutions, language school, research institution, museum, NGO, company).
Possible formats are job shadowing schemes, involvement in curriculum development, courses, workshops and seminars, language courses, staff weeks, and participation in blended intensive programmes.
Participation in conferences is excluded.

Combined stays (teaching and training)
An Erasmus stay for training purposes can be combined with such for teaching purposes. In this case, teaching must take place for at least four hours per week. Possible formats include a teaching placement in combination with job shadowing schemes, courses, workshops and seminars, staff weeks, study visits, or involvement in curriculum development.
