Zoe Köbrunner | Bmkös
Zoe Köbrunner is mentee of Nikolaus Gansterer.
Zoe Köbrunner, * 1995 in Vienna, is an architect, artist, and material researcher. She studied at the Technical University of Vienna, EPFL Lausanne, Bauhaus University Weimar, and the Estonian Academy of Arts in Tallinn.
In her work, materials become storytellers, and architecture transforms into a medium that makes time and memory tangible. Her projects explore how space can evolve into a living, breathing continuum, where each layer contributes to an unfolding network of shared meaning.
Her practice focuses on understanding and reinterpreting the narratives embedded in the build environment. It invites a sharpened perspective on the existing, drawing inspiration from a rich inventory of inherited materials and practices. By reinterpreting and reassembling forgotten fragments, Köbrunner creates continuities within the remnants of the past. Her sculptural approach adds a sensory and tactile dimension to architecture, fostering an emotional connection to space. Her fragmented spatial artefacts reflect a deep understanding and a nuanced sensitivity to the complex relationships between history, bodies, and places in which they are embedded.
