Academy Auction 2024
The annual online auction of the Academy of Fine Arts Vienna, in cooperation with Dorotheum Vienna, takes place for the tenth time in 2024. The proceeds support students of the Academy facing challenging life circumstances through the Mental Health Fund, Support Fund, and 2nd Year Scholarship. Additionally, a part of the proceeds benefits the initiatives tralalobe and solidarity matters, which support refugees in Austria.
This anniversary year is more than just a milestone – it signifies a relaunch of this prestigious event, with a renewed focus on the Academy itself, its graduates, and its professors. In addition to a selection of high-quality artworks, the Academy presents two special exhibitions. The first section takes a retrospective look at the history of the Academy. Around 1990, there was a significant transformation in the context of university exhibitions, closely linked to the forward-thinking Institute for Contemporary Art. Here, a new form of exhibition emerged, characterized by reflexivity, resistance, and performative practices. The second curated section showcases recent award winners and scholarship recipients. This special selection promises insights into the latest developments in the art world and offers collectors the opportunity to acquire groundbreaking works by emerging artists. The artistic works can be viewed from January 17th to 19th, 2024, at the Prospekthof of the Atelierhaus of the Academy.
