Marissa Lôbo is a migrant black activist and artist born in Bahia, Brazil. She co-ordinates the cultural work within an self-organisation of migrant women, MAIZ, Linz (www.maiz.at); Lôbo within and with MAIZ organizes artistic-critical education related to anti-racist and anti-sexist struggles. Lôbo in her artist and activist work addresses hegemonic sexualised and racialized body regimes from a Black perspective. She aims to de-colonize queer theory and to intervene in white supremacist narrative. She completed her MA in the Post Conceptual Art Practices at the Academy for fine Arts in Vienna in 2014. She has received the award of the Academy for her MA work in 2014.
