Space Syntax provides a unique, evidence-based approach to the planning and design of buildings and urban areas. The tools developed by the company together with University College London have been widely used in architecture and urban regeneration projects and to empower people to make informed decisions about the key issues concerning them. As part of Cities in Motion workshop this lecture will give an introduction to various Space Syntax methodologies, including movement and spatial analysis as well as to the strategic design approach of the consultancy.

Anna Rose is an architect with a specialism in urban design and masterplanning. She is a director of Space Syntax Limited and has been with the consultancy since 2002, advising clients in design & masterplanning processes. She has lectured widely to architectural and landscape design audiences across the EU. Her recent project work includes the concept-masterplanning of the central urban area site in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, advice on the recent redesign of Nottingham’s Old Market Square in the UK, and a study on landscape and public realm improvements to a large housing estate in East London, Shoreditch.
