Der Vortrag von Norihito Nakatani beschäftigt sich mit der Architektur in Japan nach 1970 sowie mit japanischer Stadtentwicklung am Beispiel Hiroshimas nach dem 2. Weltkrieg. Im ersten Teil wird die Auseinandersetzung in der Architektur mit der steigenden Umweltverschmutzung und den gesellschaftlichen Veränderungen (Studentenunruhen, Öl-Schock, etc.) beleuchtet. Gezeigt werden Bild-Beispiele von Anti-Modernismus, Formalismus, Self-Aid-Movement, Regionalismus und Postmoderne.
Norihito Nakatani ist Associate Professor am Department of Architecture der Waseda Universität und lehrt dort mit dem Schwerpunkt japanische Architekturgeschichte.

The lecture series 08/09 will explore the question of urbanity, and what makes the city of the 21st century a ground for another urbanism: We will debate the future possibilities of the metropolis. If Manhattan was the model of a retroactive manifesto, what could be the future of our urban living? And who is to build it?
