How to Become an Island? Using art as a strategy in the crisis
Lecture by the Danube Transformation Agency for Agency (DTAFA) as part of the Lectures For Future series
The DTFAFA – Danube Transformation Agency for Agency – was established to explore how art can be used as a counterforce against climate change and its impacts on the Danube. However, the sole responsibility should not lie with art alone; society as a whole must be involved, and economic and political power structures must be uncovered and called to action. Therefore, DTAFA works closely with scientists, civil society groups, environmental activists, plants, and animals to offer the Danube future solutions in the form of experimental actions and to prepare for all anticipated emergencies. The research will focus on science, theory, and technology, as well as the history and the role that the Danube has played as a totemic, spiritual, military, and ecological touchstone for various cultures.
The Danube Transformation Agency for Agency (DTAFA) is a fictional, environmentally focused, and socio-artistic organization that provides services and mediations between species or, more precisely, future pathways for imaginative ideas for the Danube ecosystem. It utilizes visual art, design, science, and advocacy for the future of the Danube.
The DTAFA team includes: Alexandra Fruhstorfer, Lena Violetta Leitner, Ege Kökel, Solmaz Farhang, and Andrea Palašti. Project leader and advisor: Bernd Kräftner.
