Somatic and writing workshop with Clay AD

The zoom workshop with Clay AD, which takes place in the context of the exhibition New Views on Same-Olds (until 13.03.2021), is a space for exploration and imagination; to time travel, world build and weave relationships together. Through imagining bodies, landscapes and movements through somatic based exercises, we will focus on prefiguration as bridge between the past, present and future, as well as the writing and moving body. Re-narrativizing can be an important strategy to deal within the circumstances of late capitalism and ever shifting precarious states, as a tool to map desired futures and embodied presents to build those from.

This workshop is an ongoing research co-created and facilitated by Clay AD and Isabel Gatzke. First at Shedhalle Zurich in 2019, and at NGBK Berlin in 2020.

Clay AD is an interdisciplinary artist, writer, and somatic bodyworker living in Berlin. Their first novel, „Metabolize, If Able“ (2018) is available through Arcadia Missa Press UK and was named a finalist in the 31st Lambda Literary Award for LGBTQ Sci-Fi, Fantasy and Horror. They have led somatic and writing workshops at NGBK Berlin and Shedhalle Zurich and read internationally including at the Institute for Contemporary Arts London.

Isabel Gatzke (Dramaturgy) works as a dramaturg in the field of dance and performance. She studied multidisciplinary Cultural Studies and Theatre at the University of Hildesheim, Art in Context (M.A.) at University of the Arts Berlin and Dramaturgy (M.A.) at Zurich University of the Arts. Isabel worked with the choreographer Anna Aristarkhova, Annegret Schalke, Frida Giulia Franceschini, Olympia Bukkakis ( Gender Euphoria, Sophiensæle Berlin, 2019 / Work on Progress , The Present Is Not Enough - Performing Queer History and Futures, HAU, 2019 / Under Pressures, Gessnerallee Zürich, 2019) and Judith Förster ( SHOWDOWN, Vierte Welt Berlin, 2020). Since 2018 she is a research assistant for the artistic-research project Non-knowledge, Laughter and the Moving Image led by Professor Annika Larsson (HFBK Hamburg / RIA Stockholm). In this frame she curated the two-day symposium The Dance of Disorder with contributions by a.o. Oona Doherty, Dana Michel and Tracy Maurice, Kélina Gotman and Jasmin Schädler (HFBK Hamburg, 2020).
