Blossoms on paper and parchment
Guided tour on depictions of flowers and plants from the Graphic Collection with René Schober, Head of the Graphic Collection
The Graphic Collection of the Academy of Fine Arts Vienna holds around 1600 depictions of flowers and plants, mainly from the late 18th and 19th centuries. These works of art are very sensitive to light, which is why they are rarely seen in public. The focus tour offers the opportunity to gain an insight into these holdings of the depot. On display are parchment leaves from a florilegium from around 1650, design drawings from the manufactory drawing school, template sheets from the class for flower, fruit and animal painting at the academy and flower watercolors by Moritz Michael Daffinger from the middle of the 19th century.
