Research Day 2024 at the Academy of Fine Arts Vienna
The annual Research Day took place at the Academy of Fine Arts Vienna on November 14, 2024. The conference conveys the range of current research work at the Academy of Fine Arts Vienna, provides insights into specific projects and their results, and invites collegial discussion. The focus is on presentations of the (intermediate) results of research projects at an advanced stage.
The following research projects were presented this year:

- Synergetic Interaction of Writing Materials
- Mediated Autonomy. Ideal and Reality of Aesthetic Practice
- Online-Portal of the Art Collections of the Academy of Fine Arts Vienna
- W/ri/gh/ting Archives through Artistic Research
- ABC – Ancient Book Crafts
- The dramaturgy of Conversation
Prizes for the Academy's Best Research Catalogue Expositions 2023/2024 go to Ruthia Jenrbekova, Ujjwal Utkarsh, as well as Paul-Julien Robert, Elisabeth Schäfer and Ida Clay
This year, for the first time, the Prize for the Best Research Catalogue Expositions of the Academy of Fine Arts Vienna was awarded by an international jury. Three published contributions from the years 2023 and 2024 were honoured. The award ceremony took place on 14 November 2024 as part of the Research Day.
Jury: Blanka Chládková, Thomas Grill, Andre Zogholy
This prize rewards outstanding contributions to the Research Catalogue (i.e. RC Expositions) by staff and students of the Academy of Fine Arts Vienna. This time, published RC contributions from the years 2023 and 2024 were eligible for the competition. The aim of the prize is to promote innovative and experimental publication formats and to make artistic research widely visible internationally. The prize is administered by Art | Research | Support (kfs@akbild.ac.at).
The Research Catalogue is a non-commercial, collaboration and publishing platform for artistic research operated by the Society for Artistic Research. The Academy is a portal partner of the research catalogue and enables all Academy members to use the Research Catalogue.
