Austrian Patent Office | National Patent Award 2025
The State Patent Award puts the spotlight on particularly innovative achievements. It is the highest state honour for inventions and brands and will be awarded for the fifth time in June 2025.
In the "Patent" category, the focus is on inventive step. This is understood to mean a technically innovative solution to a challenge. The patents submitted are judged according to the following criteria: Originality of the invention, Technological complexity, Economic chances of success, Significance for society.
In the "Trade Mark" category, the design is at the centre of the evaluation. The trade marks submitted are judged according to the following criteria: Creativity, uniqueness, utilisation, brand message.
The special category "Matilda" honours companies that pay particular attention to the promotion of women in the field of innovation and create structural changes in this area.
