Every year, the Upper Austrian Chamber of Labor (AK OÖ) awards a science prize for scientific work that serves to improve the working and living conditions of employees.

The AK Science Prize will be awarded in two categories in 2026. In category A, researchers can submit their dissertation or an already published scientific article. There are no thematic restrictions. However, the scientific work must be oriented towards the basic attitude and areas of interest of AK Oberösterreich. The prize money for this category amounts to a total of €9000 and will be divided among up to three prize winners.

Category B includes scientific work by students participating in the Master's and Diploma funding program of AK Oberösterreich on the topic of “Health - from security of supply to artificial intelligence”. A maximum of nine of them will receive funding of up to €1000. They are also involved in an accompanying colloquium structure. One researcher will be selected from this group to receive the AK Science Prize in the Master's/Diploma thesis category. The prize consists of the publication of the thesis in the economic and socio-political journal WISO, which is supported and financed by AK Oberösterreich.
