Creative Europe | Circulation of European literary works
Publishers and cultural organisations active in the publishing sector can apply for co-financing for the translation, printing, distribution and promotion of European literature. The aim of the funding is to strengthen the transnational dissemination and diversity of European literary works.
Projects must submit at least five works of fiction (such as novels, short stories, theatre plays, radio plays, poetry, comics or youth and children's literature). The works must be by authors who are either nationals of one of the countries eligible to participate in the programme or who are resident in one of these countries or are recognised as part of the literary heritage of these countries. At present, 40 countries are eligible to participate in the programme: the 27 EU member states, the EEA states Iceland, Norway and Liechtenstein as well as Albania, Armenia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Georgia, Kosovo, Montenegro, North Macedonia, Serbia, Ukraine and Tunisia.
Priority is given to translations from less widely spoken languages and from countries that are underrepresented on the target language book market. Great importance is attached to supporting the profession of literary translators and their appropriate remuneration, fair working conditions and visibility.
