Wilbirg Brainin-Donnenberg is director of drehbuch FORUM wien, filmmaker, film curator and publicist. 1993-2004 at sixpackfilm, from 2004 freelance curator of various film series (including Phantoms. Metamorphoses. Animism in Film, Generali Foundation Vienna; Form leaves Norm. Heimat geht fremd. Österreich-Schwerpunkt Int. KFF Hamburg; Wissenschaftlerinnen im Film; Frauen und Wahnsinn im Film; Hommage an Anne Charlotte Robertson) and events (e.g. 2010-2013 conception of the Diagonale-Branchentreffen). Founding and board member of FC GLORIA - Women* Networking Film. Organized masterclasses with Maren Ade, Camilla Ahlgren, Kathrin Resetarits, Frank Spotnitz et al. She publishes on international avant-garde cinema and gender topics, including co-editing the book Gustav Deutsch (FilmmuseumSynemaPublications 2009). Language as an Act of Liberation in Feminist Avant-Garde Films and Videos by Eija-Liisa Ahtila, VALIE EXPORT, Kerstin Honeit, Sabine Marte, and Anne-Charlotte Robertson (Vienna, Böhlau 2020).
Graduate of the Friedl Kubelka School for Independent Film (2016-2018). Her short films Brief an eine Tochter (2019), As time goes by (2021) and Dirndlschuld (2021) were screened at numerous international film festivals, Dirndlschuld celebrated Berlinale Shorts Competition international premiere. Lives in Vienna.
