Iman Issa receives Ernst Rietschel Art Prize for Sculpture
Iman Issa (*1979 in Cairo, lives and works in Vienna and Berlin, among other places) will receive the Ernst Rietschel Art Prize for Sculpture 2024. In addition to the prize money of EUR 15,000, the artist will be honored with an exhibition that will open on February 7, 2025 in the Albertinum in Dresden. The history of museums and collections is a focus of her work, in which she deals with the places, the works and their displays. Her objects, mostly reduced to clear and precise forms, are often combined with texts that reveal surprising perspectives. As part of her exhibition, Issa will present sculptural works and photographs at various locations in the Albertinum.
Iman Issa is currently Professor of Sculpture at the Academy of Fine Arts Vienna.
The prize, which has been awarded every two years since 1991, honors outstanding artists who work primarily in sculpture.
