Brisilda Bufi | Bmkös

Brisilda Bufi is mentee of Bettina Siegele.

Brisilda Bufi, *1991 in Tirana, Albania, lives and works in Graz. After completing a Bachelor’s degree in classical piano at the University of Arts in Tirana, she moved to Graz in 2015. In 2021, she graduated from Ortweinschule Graz with a focus on Photography and Multimedia Art, and in 2024, she earned her Bachelor’s degree in Information Design at FH JOANNEUM.

Bufi’s artistic work explores themes such as identity, belonging, and cultural hybridity, which she examines through photography, moving images, and book art. Her approach operates at the intersection of identity, memory, and the hidden, questioning how cultural narratives and personal perspectives shape perception. By employing sequencing, juxtaposition, and an intuitive storytelling style – using still lifes, portraits, and abstract forms – she creates visual narratives that blur the boundaries between documentation and abstraction, addressing both collective and individual stories.

In addition, Bufi investigates hybrid identities, the effects of cultural displacement, and the dynamics of social and ecological change. Her focus on often-overlooked details and untold stories emphasizes the tension between what is revealed and what remains hidden, inviting viewers to become active participants in interpreting meaning.
