Lynhan Balatbat-Helbock | Curator Savvy Contemporary Berlin
Lynhan Balatbat-Helbock is mentor of Abiona Esther Ojo
Lynhan Balatbat-Helbock is a curator and researcher leading a participatory archive project at SAVVY Contemporary in Berlin. She studied Romance Studies in Vienna and completed her Master's in Postcolonial Cultures and Global Policy at Goldsmiths University of London. She has lived in Berlin since 2014 and works on the permanent archival project Colonial Neighbors, among other projects. In her work in the permanent collection of SAVVY Contemporary, she searches for colonial traces that manifest themselves in our present. The collaborative archive is dedicated to discussing forgotten histories and decanonizing the Western gaze. In close collaboration with artists, initiatives and activists, a hybrid practice conditions their respective work through a critical engagement with the objects of the archive.
