Axel Jonsson

Axel Jonsson (*1991 in Sweden) lives and works in Vienna. 2020 he finishes his studies with Daniel Richter at the Academy of Fine Arts Vienna. He works with figurative oil painting. His motifs draw their inspiration from current political events, history, pop culture and mythology. Formally, he is influenced by classical painting as well as contemporary images.

Presentations at the Elisabeth and Klaus Thomann Gallery in Vienna and Innsbruck. Group exhibitions among others: pina, Vienna; Zollamt Studios, Offenbach a.M. and Therapy Press, Vienna. Awarded a one-year working grant by the Swedish Artist Support Committee, the Eva and Hugo Bergmans Memorial Fund, the Ragnar and Birgit Åhlens Foundation for Art in Dalarna, Sweden, and the Culture Prize of the Municipality of Falun, Sweden.
