Study of philosophy at the University of Ljubljana | Ph.D. with a dissertation on the "Philosophical Aspects of Virtual Reality and the Change of Spatial and Temporal Paradigms in the 1990s" | Marina Grzinic lives in Ljubljana.
Since 1982, she has worked as a video artist in collaboration with Aina Smid | Numerous exhibitions and festival participations, including: After the Wall, Moderna Museet, Stockholm | Positionen, Museum of the 20th Century, Vienna | 100 Years of Lacan, Sigmund Freud Museum, Vienna | Europe, Europe, 100 Years of Avant-garde in Central and Eastern Europe, Vienna | Numerous international awards for video art, including ZKM Karlsruhe | San Francisco International Film Festival | FIV Buenos Aires and Nuremberg.
1997/98 Postdoctoral Fellowship for Research from the Japan Society for the Advancement of Science in Tokyo | 2001 Apex Residency Program, New York | International lecture and teaching activities at Duke University, USA; UCLA, Los Angeles, USA; San Francisco College of Art, USA; IMI, Osaka, Japan; Merz Akademie, Stuttgart, Germany.
Current research projects include: The virtual and aesthetic constitution of the (post)modern subject and its political-philosophical and epistemological implications; Theory of virtuality and cyber-space; Philosophy and politics in the postmodern era.
