The Academy of Fine Arts Vienna at the 20th Vienna Art Week
From November 8 to 15, 2024, VIENNA ART WEEK will turn the spotlights on the art city Vienna for the 20th time. With this year’s theme “Facing Time”, VIENNA ART WEEK reflects on its almost 20-year history and explores the various dimensions of time.
The anniversary celebrations will kick off with a grand opening on November 8 with artistic interventions in the Studio Building of the Academy of Fine Arts Vienna (former Semperdepot). The extraordinary space will be activated with a special DJ line-up, live performances, installations and artistic positions focusing on the theme of time.
On November 12, a guided tour of the exhibition Die Sammlung betrachten & Cranach’s Holy Productivity An Insert by Klaus Scherübel with Sabine Folie & Claudia Koch will take place in the Academy’s Paintings Gallery.
Also on November 12, FUTURAMA°LAB will present itself in the Studio Building. SALON FUTUR SPÉCIAL is primarily dedicated to abstract mobility concepts and the associated artistic strategies anchored in the FUTURAMA°LAB.
On November 14, an event organized by the Volkstheater Wien and the Academy of Fine Arts Vienna will take place in the Prospekthof of the Studio Building. In SHOOTING PICTURES (BULLET TIME): A symposium about the photographer and murderer Eadweard Muybridge – and its consequences, Zachary Formwalt, Daniele Genadry, Prof. Dr. Lisa Gotto, Alexander Kerlin, Prof. Dr. Bernd Stiegler, Matthias Seier as well as Saskia Te Nicklin, Michael Höpfner and students of Art and Time | Photography at the Academy of Fine Arts Vienna will present their positions.
