Laura Sperl's works move at the intersection of photography, performance, dance, and drawing. Fascinated by the sun, she repeatedly draws on basic photochemical processes that intertwine photography, skin, landscape, light, and drawing. In contact exposures such as photograms or cyanotypes, she inscribes bodies, drawings, or surroundings into the image carrier. Between a conceptual, performative and poetic approach, the body-per develops into a central motif. A body that is both performer and object. A body whose surface itself functions as an image carrier and light-sensitive medium. Questions of processes of change are raised and interwoven across the media.
