Students of the Academy of Fine Arts Vienna present artistic interventions in the permanent exhibition of the Jewish Museum Vienna.
Opening: 26.6.2024, 18:30 h

The projects confront voids of the exhibition, which opened in 2013 and bring in a contemporary perspective. They also examine how the past carries on in the present, at what point the past becomes history and in what way the present influences our view of the past: What can museums do to reflect contemporary Jewish life in its diversity? What role does the narration of individual stories of successful families play in the construction of a collective historical narrative? How can marginalized Jewish stories be made visible? What hostilities and precariousness is Jewish life currently confronted with?

Participating artists:
Luisa Albrecht, Ayala Shoshana Guy, Tatiana Kai-Browne, Mark Napadenski, Carlotta Partzsch, Sashi Turkof

The projects were created as part of a course in the Master Critical Studies program at the Academy of Fine Arts Vienna taught by Livia Erdösi and Eduard Freudmann.
