Karin Plavčak | Artist

*1970 in Gütersloh, Germany, lives and works in Vienna and Berlin. She graduated from the Social Academy in Vienna and subsequently studied painting with Sue Williams at the Academy of Fine Arts Vienna. Visiting professor of painting at the University of Art in Linz, teaching positions at the University of Applied Arts in Vienna, the Weissensee School of Art in Berlin and the Summer Academy in Salzburg.

For her artistic work she received the Georg Eisler Prize, the Women's Art Prize and most recently the Alfred Klinken Prize. In addition to painting, Katrin Plavčak is also engaged in sculpture and music. She played music in the indie bands Blendwerk in Vienna and Erste Stufe Haifisch in Berlin, has been part of the band Kinky Muppet since 2017 and currently performs as a duo with Ulrika Segerberg as M.O.G. (Mothers of God).
