Die Menge der Dinge
As part of a course in the scenography studio, teachers and students at the Academy of Fine Arts Vienna jointly developed a methodology for inventorying one’s own closet.
Eleven participants recorded their entire wardrobes in tabular and photographic form – arranged according to types of clothing and specifying material, color, origin, condition, age, use, personal reference, including a photograph of each individual item.
This resulted in the 900-pages book The Sum of Things of a Certain Kind.
This will be on display at Exhibit Eschenbachgasse from November 24 to December 7, 2022, the space becoming a walk-in clothing inventory:
In personal conversations with staff members and students of the Academy of Fine Arts Vienna, clothing loans from their private wardrobes will be inventoried on site.
Through the jointly installed objects, the space develops into a temporary closet.
Scenography studio: Jasmin Hammer, Otto Krause, Laura Schroeder.
