The Equal Opportunities Team introduces itself!
According to the Austrian Universities Act, the Equal Opportunities Team has the task of “counteracting discrimination by university bodies on the grounds of gender, ethnic affiliation, religion or other belief, age or sexual orientation, and of supporting and counselling both university members and bodies in such matters.”
In case of discrimination, which also includes verbal discouragement or gender-related, sexualized (sexual) harassment and violence, the team offers students, employees and applicants for a study, research or job position information, confidential counseling and general support. If there is reasonable suspicion of discrimination, the Equal Opportunities Team has the duty to intervene e.g. in the context of recruiting procedures. Moreover, the team organizes events and develops strategies in order to enforce anti-discriminatory practices and raise awareness among colleagues and students.
