Steffi Alte and Students: A talk about the „demoraum K“ installation
The starting point of the discussion is the work of students in three mobile architectures designed by the artist and teacher Steffi Alte, the so-called “demoraum K”, which can be found in the exhibition.
For the exhibition EXHIBIT - DIVERSE AUSSTELLUNGSPRAXEN, Steffi Alte has had her “demoraum K” and two associated “demoraum K advertising drums” activate by students from the academy. They belong to a group of academy members from various departments of the Institute of Fine Arts who have come together to draw attention to the growing electoral injustice and the associated democratic deficit. Based on a lived practice and shared experiences that connect them, the students create an artistic, installative reaction to Trump's racism and queerphobia and fictitious ballot papers and monotypes that thematize participation in democratic structures.
Students:
Prima Mathawabhan, Emilia Lichtenwagner, Brittany Tucker, Hao Yang, Max Oswald, Paria Sharestani
