Katharina Höglinger in conversation with Luisa Kasalicky
Über Malerei (About Painting) is a series of talks first initiated by the Studio for Abstract Painting in 2013, in which contemporary painting is discussed exclusively on the basis of originals with students, alumni, faculty and guests. The expanded concept for the new edition of Über Malerei will be held on four dates beginning in SS 2023. Artists will be invited to provide their own painting, which will be exhibited in combination with an object and an image of a historical painting in the rooms of Exhibit Eschenbachgasse.
Katharina Höglinger's works draw on the experiential space of everyday life. Thoughts and loose interests buzzing around are selected and captured instantaneously to be fixed on a medium such as paper, cardboard, fabric or canvas in an interplay of drawing, text and painting. In the process, complex visual worlds full of contradictions unfold, which, despite their proximity to the fantastic, always remain connected to reality. (Text excerpt: Florentine Rungrama Muhry)
As an extension of the perceptual field of the works, she has invited Magdalena Forster to contribute a performative introduction.
Magdalena Forster is a dance and performance artist, choreographer and trained health and nursing professional. Her works flirt with the potential of the unfinished and indeterminate, turning to personal documentation, kinetic archives and memories.
