Merit Scholarship

Merit scholarships serve to recognize outstanding academic achievements in the previous academic year (1.10. - 30.9.) Regular students can apply for a merit scholarship from the 3rd semester onwards. Doctoral students are excluded.

There is no legal claim to the award.

Deadline for submission: 21 October to 6 November 2023
Deadline: Wednesday, 6 November 2024, 11 a.m.

Submissions are only possible via the Academy's submission system!

Requirements for a merit scholarship are:

  • Austrian or EEA citizenship (incl. Switzerland) or equivalent citizens from third countries (with card "Permanent Residence EU").
  • Compliance with the duration of studies (1 tolerance semester possible per study section of diploma programs/bachelor's/master's/doctorate´s), taking into account any important reasons (e.g. pregnancy, military service).
  • Grade point average of at least 1.5 in the exams used for assessment. In the case of teacher training studies, the exams from both subjects are taken into account.
  • In the case of several fields of study at the Academy of Fine Arts Vienna, all exam results will be taken into account.
  • Recognitions are only valid if the underlying exams fall within the relevant period (e.g. through a mobility program).

Fill out application form on platform

  • Upload proof of citizenship (passport, ID card, “permanent residence EU”-card)
  • Upload current confirmation of registration ("Meldezettel")
  • Only for teacher training programs with an external teaching subject: upload transcript of records from the other university.
    From all other fields of study, the exams are in the system and will be retrieved by me.

Please note that these files must be uploaded separately as PDF files, with the following naming:

  • citizenship_name_LST
  • registration_name_LST
  • external subject_name_LST
