Philipp Fleischmann | Artistic Director School Friedl Kubelka for independent film

Philipp Fleischmann works as an artist and filmmaker in Vienna, Austria. He primarily engages with the medium of analog film. For his projects, he often develops site-specific cameras that enable him to reflect upon the physical and cultural dimensions of institutional spaces. Currently, he is exploring the possibilities of 'Queer Abstraction' in film.

Since 2014, he has been the artistic director of the Friedl Kubelka School for Independent Film in Vienna, where he himself studied in 2006. He also studied at the Academy of Fine Arts Vienna with Dorit Margreiter Choy and at the Royal Danish Art Academy with Gerard Byrne.
