Tasks and fields of activity
According to the Austrian Universities Act, the Equal Opportunities Team has the task of counteracting discrimination by university bodies on the grounds of gender, ethnic affiliation, religion or other belief, age or sexual orientation, and of supporting and counselling both university members and bodies in such matters. Additionally, the Academy of Fine Arts Vienna has implemented an Anti-discriminatory Works-Council Agreement.
In case of discrimination, which includes verbal discouragement and sexual harassment, this team offers students, administrative employees and teaching staff information, confidential counseling and help. If there is reasonable suspicion of discrimination, the Equal Opportunities Team is obliged to intervene e.g. in recruiting matters. Moreover, it organizes presentations and workshops, and develops strategies for implementing anti-discriminatory practices and for raising awareness among colleagues.

In order to ensure that the counselling takes place in a setting as confidential and undisturbed as possible, please contact the office via mail or phone to set up an appointment. Walk-in counselling without prior appointment will of course continue to be possible. Please be aware, however, that at times the office might be unoccupied during opening hours due to other appointments.
