being (t)here
Duo-Exhibition from Sattva Giacosas Diplom (Bildende Kunst) Bromelias und Guilherme Maggessis Master-Thesis Fields are, of course, made.
The title “being (t)here” alludes to the self-contained “here” in the adverb “there.”
“There” is a place that is different from “here.”
Yet, one always brings it (“here,” where one was before) when one moves “there.”
“being (t)here” is then not only concerned with where one is (“here” or “there”),
but with the space between those words and what one carries when moving between “here” to “there.”
In Guilherme Maggessi’s work an orientalist painting of the late 19th-century becomes displaced and scattered through different reproductions. Sattva Giacosa’s works address the performative agency of the body in the capitalist system and its imaginative figurations outside of it.
