Das WU Projekt

Due to the pending, temporary move of the Academy of Fine Arts from its facility at Schillerplatz to the building of the Vienna University of Economics and Business, students of the program 'Master in Critical Studies' explored several aspects of the relocation processes. Not only the Academy's own move to the facilties of the University of Economics was investigated, but also the latter's relocation to the newly built campus site at Prater.

At the evening event approaches to urgent problems of the move of the two universities will be presented: The projects explore issues ranging from the inquiry of the steering of 'career paths', to addressing the presence of artworks in the entrance hall of the University of Economics, to disciplinary control of an institution over its members and to societal embedment of the newly built campus site at Prater.

Another motive that orbits the presented works is the question of appropriation of space after the Academy has entered the facilities of the University of Economics and the configuration of this process in critical terms.
