Johann Baptist Lampi the Elder, Portrait of Wenzel Anton von Kaunitz-Rietberg, c. 1790, 281 × 186 cm, oil on canvas, inv. no. 93, © Paintings Gallery, Academy of Fine Arts Vienna

The painting shows the Protector of the Academy, Prince Wenzel Anton Kaunitz-Rietberg, in an idealized space with a temple of Minerva, the goddess of wisdom, in the background. He presents himself as a man of state in the vestments of the Order of the Golden Fleece and an allonge wig, standing before an ornate chair and behind a small desk with writing utensils and pointing to the statue of Minerva with his right hand.
