Project Assistant at the Austrian Center for Fashion Research (ACfFR)
with an employment scale of 20h/week limited from 01.01.2019 to 30.06.2020.
The Austrian Center for Fashion Research is an interdisciplinary research project that aims at establishing an internationally competitive research infrastructure in the realm of fashion studies, based on critical cultural studies and art theory as well as on practice-based and practice-oriented research approaches in fashion. The research interests of the center are fashion and politics, migration and decolonization in the system of fashion, fashions and technologies. It develops synergies in research and teaching between the Academy of Fine Arts Vienna and the Art University Linz and other Austrian universities and cultural institutions.
The post holder will provide research assistance to the interdisciplinary research project “Austrian Center for Fashion Research”, this will involve the documentation and analysis of research data, and the planning and organization of events and publications.
Requirements for application:
• The successful candidate will have a graduate degree in one of the relevant disciplines (cultural studies/anthropology, sociology, fashion and design studies, art history, fashion design, art, design, media studies)
• Experience with academic, editorial and/or curatorial projects and in the organization of workshops, events and/or publications
• Interest in one or more of the research areas of the Austrian Center for Fashion Research (fashion and politics, migration and decolonization in the fashion system, fashion & technologies)
• Strong organizational and communications skills and an eye for detail
• The ability to work independently, creativity and capacity for teamwork
• Skills in graphic design, layout and media software (Photoshop, InDesign)
• Excellent German and English language skills
• The ability to reflect and act upon gender issues and all forms of discrimination
Expected qualifications:
• Capacity to document and analyse research data and willingness to participate in the development and presentation of research outcomes
• Capacity to carry out literature research and to acquire a deeper knowledge in the research areas relevant for the project
• Interest in practice-based and theory-led research in fashion and interdisciplinary cooperations
The monthly gross salary for 20h per month according to the collective wage agreement for the employees of the universities in salary group B1 is currently Euro 1,397.30.
